"3 Explorations in Luminosity" Opening Reception

Newly curated, contemporary encaustic paintings by artists: Pamela Beverly-Quigley, Danny Setjo, and Doug Smith. Drawing, painting and photography converge in contemporary abstract paintings, resulting in luminous colors and textures.

Explorations in Luminosity is a group exhibition of encaustic artworks by artists whose art is being exhibited for the first time in Houston. The encaustic process, painting using pigment infused hot wax, is one of the oldest known forms of painting. This wax process technique was notably used in the Fayum mummy portraits from Egypt around 100–300 AD.
